I changed this to link to a url, and now it's reporting the correct number of images. The default is lightbox[album], which should work with shadowbox. I do have a situation in the code that could produce duplicates, particularly if the [album] portion were removed. It would be when there are captions that also link to the image (but not in all cases). The captions sometimes use a separate link to the image, which I try to put into another Shadowbox stream by changing the [album] code, but that's not bulletproof, unfortunately.
