  1. I created a new user and set the role as "Subscriber". I then logged in as that Subscriber in a different browser, and uploaded a photo. When the photo was uploaded it not only added the image to the gallery, but it also created a new post (that was awaiting moderation). This was unexpected behavior as Subscribers supposedly don't have permission to create new posts.

I know I was logged in as the proper user because the title of the post that was created was, "Test's First Post". (My Subscriber user was named, "Test")

I've since tried to duplicate what happened, and no new posts have been created. Is this a bug, or is there a setting for creating new posts somewhere that I'm not seeing?

    Thanks!

  2. Hi Paul,

Creating new posts should only possible if you have PhotoSmash Extend...do you have this?

With PhotoSmash Extend, you can set the minimum role that can create new posts....by default, that is Admin, but you can set it all the way down to visitor

Also, with PS Extend, you also have to provide it with a custom layout and specify create_post='layout_name' in the shortcode.

I would only expect new posts if you have all 3 of those items in place.

PhotoSmash does create WP Attachments which represent the integration with WordPress' built-in Gallery functionality. WordPress Attachments appear in the WP_POSTS table and look like regular posts, but I wouldn't have thought it would show up in your Posts section of your Admin.

If you don't have Extend and have it configured as above, is it possible that you have another plugin that is piggybacking on the upload to create a new post. Without Extend, there is no functionality for creating new posts in the standard plugin.

Let me know what you discover,

    Byron

  3. Hi Byron,

Thanks for the quick reply. No, I don't have PS Extend, or the other items you mentioned. But, I do have Gravity Forms installed, which does have the functionality to create posts from forms. I didn't realize that two plugins could interact in this way, but that must be what's happening. It's still odd that I've only been able to make it happen once. Thanks for the info.
