  1. When clicking on the "Upload Photos" link, the popup interface appears and I'm able to successfully upload photos — so it appears. However, the photos don't appear in the post, nor do they appear in the photo management section.
I'm able to successfully load and display photos by other WordPress means and they are saved in the expected locations. As far as I can tell, the photos being uploaded via PhotoSmash are nowhere to be found in the uploads folders. There is one picture appearing in the post I managed to get in there when I first installed the plugin. I can't remember how it happened though. But even that photo doesn't appear in the photo management section either. It says there are no photos in the selected gallery.

    Potentially relevant information:

I have WordPress installed in a subfolder. So an example of the URL would be: http://site.com/wordpress/
I'm not sure if that would have any bearing on the issue as everything else works fine. The reason for this install is because I'm trying WordPress out to see if I like it. If I do, and so far it appears I think WordPress is the King of CMSs, then I'll be converting my site over to it from Drupal.

Truncated summary of what I've tried:

I've checked for the .js file that was said could me missing from one post, it was there. I deactivated, deleted, then reinstalled the plugin anyway just for good measure — that did nothing either.
I've tried it with the default WordPress theme with no luck, deactivated the Shadowbox JS plugin, just because, which had no effect on the issue either.
The default location for saved images is as it should be. I've even tried entering in the exact URL with no change.

I could go on. I believe I've tried all the solutions from the other posts dealing with this issue and nothing has worked.

  2. Hi JoJo,

First off, thanks for trying out WP and PhotoSmash...Once you understand how WordPress works, as a coder, there is almost nothing that you cannot do with it. Its system of hooks and filters, which enable its plugins to enhance or completely change its functionality, are what make it so incredibly powerful. I think PhotoSmash is fairly unique in some of its functionality. It's not that PhotoSmashs is doing anything crazy unthinkable, it's just that I've not found anything that implements the functionality. That said, if all you need is a GREAT photo gallery, then I'd recommend looking at the NextGEN Gallery WP plugin. It is the 800lb gorilla of photo galleries. PhotoSmash has a place in the world because it offers some features not found in NextGen. I find PhotoSmash easier to understand in its workflow, but NextGen has 1.8 million downloads, and that's hard to argue with ;-)

But on to your PhotoSmash problem...it sounds like you've tried all the usual suspects. My initial thought was the Uploads folder, but it sounds like you checked that.

If you'd like, send me an email through the Contact page and we can dive deeper.

    Cheers,
    Byron
