  1. Hi again !

I looked in all the forum but I didn't find the solution. Perhaps I'm doing wrong ...
My problem is this one :
I've got a gallery where all users can upload a photo. Under this photo, the caption and the name of the author (user) appears. When I click on this link, I've got a page like this one : http://www.fotoclubilforte.it/?author=24. I imagine that author=24 is a virtual gallery. But the problem is that the gallery doesn't display, only the caption in text. I read a lot of time your "Add Contributor Galleries to your Author Pages", I did exactly what you say, but ... impossible ...

I am really sorry to take your time like that, but I really don't understand what I am doing wrong.

And if I buy the Photosmash extend, it will be easier ? Or it's an other thing ?

I've got an other question less important : How can I translate your plugin (change "image by" by "imagine da"). Also the upload form ?

    Greats thanks again !!!
    Than

  2. Hi Laurence,

    1) If you've gone through that tutorial, there are a couple of things you might try: 1) try turning on Permalinks for your blog (go to Settings / Permalinks, and choose one of the styles they have there like: http://yourblog.net/2010/10/10/sample-post/. If that doesn't work try: 2) switch to another theme and see if it works. If so, then that would indicate that something in your theme is causing it not to show the gallery. In that line of thought, you might consider if you have any plugins operating that might affect author pages.

    2) To do the translations, you can use Custom Forms and Custom Layouts so that all of the wording can be like you want it. There are some tutorials that should be able to get you started: http://smashly.net/photosmash-galleries/how-to/create-custom-layouts/ and http://smashly.net/photosmash-galleries/tutorials/creating-custom-fields/

    Hope that helps,
    Byron

  3. Hi !

Thanks very much for your response ! Effectively, it's my theme which cause problems. Arrrg !!!!

For the translation, I went directly in your plugin's files a I found how to. For me, it was more simple than create a custom form.

You didn't said anything for the "photosmash extended". I don't understand very much the difference between the "basic plugin" and this one....

  4. You're welcome! Glad you've got things moving in the right direction.

    As for Extend:

PS Extend gives you 3 basic functions:

    1) Ability to create new posts when images are uploaded
    2) Ability to insert text/html/or ads into the flow of a gallery
    3) Extended navigation options, including a search box for images

Here's a post with some more information: http://smashly.net/blog/photosmash-extend-is-nearly-ready/

Smashly.net Members ($25/year) get access to the Download page for extend and some additional instructions on use.

So, unless you need one of those 3 functions, you wouldn't need Extend. Contributor galleries are definitely part of the core, so you wouldn't need it for that.

    Cheers,
    Byron

  5. Hi ! It's me again, and always with my problem of displaying galleries. As I said, i tried a lot of thing, anything to do, it's my theme. As I can't change it, i have to find a solution, and I am sure that with your incredible plugin, it's possible.

Perhaps I am on the way but I haven't got the the knowledge to do it alone ...

    I explain you.
I have created a page for each member for all his photos displayed in all the galleries of the site. To do that, I put this shortcode in the page :
[photosmash gallery_type='contributor' author=24]. It works very good, I founded this code in the forum, thank you !!!!!

Now, for example, I have a gallery contest where all the members can upload there photos. I said to display as a "photo gallery" with a "standard display". I put "Caption [by] Contributor (link to WP author page)". So the link under the photo appears, but it here that it doesn't work and it's impossible to open the page automatically created.
Perhaps I could create a layout for this contest gallery but I don't know how. it could be something like "link to the author gallery" and not the author page ? What do you say of this possibility ?

Thanks again for your help !

  6. Can you post a link to that page? I wasn't able to find it.

    BB

  7. Hi !

Here is the page of the contest :
http://www.fotoclubilforte.it/?p=2564 . Don't look the first gallery on the page, it's a nextgen gallery and it will be out the next month (it's because I changed for your plugin, and some members have leaved a photo here first I've changed)

Here is an example of member page (mine !) where all the photos are displayed :
    http://www.fotoclubilforte.it/?p=1306 with this short code : [photosmash gallery_type='contributor' author=24]

    Thanks !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  8. Hi Laurence,

I'm not able to see anything that might be causing that issue. Can you contact me through the Contact page?

    Thanks,
    Byron
