  1. Hi, I am so excited that I found this plugin because it was exactly what I was looking for. But I am having a bit of an issue uploading images from the user side. I checked the stickied "Can't Upload Images / Add Photo Link Doesn't Work" thread and know with confidence my problem is issue #1... a JQuery conflict.

I viewed the solution, and the problem is that PHP is like greek to me. Could somebody either help walk me through the process or hop on my site and fix it for me? Otherwise im afraid I will only make the problem worse.

    Thanks!

  2. Hi TT,

Glad you like PhotoSmash and also that you figured out the jQuery conflict.

Chances are real good that you've got either a bad theme or plugin(s). If you can post a link, I'll be glad to take a look and see if we can pinpoint the offending code. If so, it might be easier to switch the plugin or theme than for you to fix it. A lot of times, you fix it once and the have to upgrade and then you're fixing it again. So, it's just better to start out using something solid from the beginning than to keep patching a leaky boat.

If it's the site that's linked in your user name above, then the problem is the theme. The offending code is:

    <script type="text/javascript" src="http://thetrepanation.com/wp-content/themes/atlantica/library/scripts/jquery-1.3.2.min.js"></script>

Your theme looks really good, but it doesn't load the jQuery javascript correctly. I have finally broken down and bought some themes from WooThemes myself. Very pleased with them.

I also noticed that it looks like one of your plugins or maybe your theme is using your site for link spam, unless you meant to link to "Cheap Electronics" and "School Grants for Women"...they're showing up at the very bottom of your page.

    Cheers,
    Byron

  3. Wow... thanks for the quick reply! The site I am using PS on is actually http://thetrepanation.com/theposterrevolution (will be just "theposterrevolution.com" when I launch). I see what you mean by the theme being the problem... the issue is that I want the new site and my existing blog site to have the same look and layout. So changing the theme (at this point) is not an option. I should also add that I didn't think i'd have problems like this having purchased the premium theme from ThemeForest.com, but oh well.

Anyway, take a look and let me know what you can do. Your help is VERY appreciated!!!

  4. Take a look at this site while you're at it:

    http://wpmu.org/why-you-should-never-search-for-free-wordpress-themes-in-google-or-anywhere-else/

    You definitely have link spam.

  5. Oh and thanks as well for pointing out that link spam... don't know how I missed that?

  6. Eric,

That was a good article. Read it a few days back...hopefully it's doing some good in the community.

    TT,

It looks like all you need to do is go into your header.php file in your theme's folder and remove that line.

    Hopefully it's easy to find.

    Cheers,
    Byron

  7. Worked like a charm... for PS at least. But it killed the slider on my home page :/

Here are the two options I see.

Either I could figure out how to make them both work together (which will be a challenge due to my lack of PHP knowledge)

    or

I could get rid of the slider all together and use PS to show the top rated images from the galleries (which will, again, be a challenge due to my lack of experience with PhotoSmash)

I would love some recommendations here.

BTW, I found what was causing the link spam. It was my Google Analytics plugin... anybody know if a good one to replace it with?

Lastly, just wanted to say thanks again Byron and Ericp. Your most helpful!

  8. Ok I decided to go route #2 on that. I got rid of the JQuery sliders and am going to fully rely on PS for all the galleries on the site.

I'll probably be a regular on this forum with plenty more questions as I get this up and running!

But so for so good... im very happy with PhotoSmash!

  9. Hi TT,

You're welcome! Glad you like PhotoSmash.

  10. hi!

I think I have a similar problem, but I can't really say for sure - I'm a rookie and I do the php/cms/html editing on a trial and error basis ;) This time I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong - the plugin looks really great and I'm just too sad I can't make it work. I think it's reason 1 also, but I don't understand the explanation... The only thing I know it that when I upload the image, I get a message: "Validation error, please select a file" - which I just did and pressed submit... Please, help! I love the plugin and I really do need it very very much on my site: http://www.parampara.pl/imp (the uploader is on http://www.parampara.pl/imp/zdjecia-uzytkownikow/).
    Thanks in advance!

  11. Hopefully we've got an answer on your other thread: http://smashly.net/community/topic/validation-error-message-on-upload?replies=2#post-3243
