That would explain it...if the form is on another page and you don't load the gallerific scripts on that page, then you're ok.

You might be faced with going through Gallerific and changing the $ to jQuery, but unfortunately, you can't just do a mass find/replace. I've done it a few times before to get stuff to work.

I'd recommend moving your Upload Form to another page as EA has done. It's probably a lot easier in the long run.

@byron @whinton - i actually didn't have this problem, because i use the "add photos" link and it's working as designed, but i use it on a separate form page not on the galleries themselves. also, all of the wordpress jquery was 1.3.2 when i got mine working and i am not yet on 3.0 which i believe is the first to use 1.4.2.

my suspect is the $ function too. i'm not hugely experienced in jquery but my experience has been that any time two jquery things work together on the same page they both can't use $, so one of the functions has to be renamed. i have had to do that before when loading two jquery sliding scripts on one page.

Hmmmm...not sure why that would be unless it's got something to do with one using the $.() syntax and the other not.

Might check with EA to see how she got it to work. I'd think that she would have had the same problem. I haven't used Galleriffic myself, although I really like it's functionality.

Bryon,

I'm stumped. I do see that jQuery is loading twice.

I am using a custom template from elizabethanne to load Galleriffic and it is loading jquery 1.3.2. I can stop jquery 1.4 from loading but then my page doesn't work. And if I don't load jquery.1.3.2, the Galleriffic plugin doesn't work. Any thoughts?

Hi Will,

Yes, it's loading jquery twice. You'll probably need to tweak the gallerific plugin to stop loading jQuery or at least load it correctly.

Here's a post that points to helpful articles:

Byron,

Love this plugin. I'm getting close to getting this working on a test site (http://wp.sitebrew.net/?page_id=1422) . However, I am running into the following problem.

1. I click on "Add Photo" and get the form to upload a photo.
2. I select the photo and click "Submit".
3. The loading image appears.
4. Then the form closes without adding the photo.

Any ideas what is going on here? I have integrated Galleriffic into my project courtesy of elizabethanne but I can't tell that any of that code is causing the problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Hi bels,

Not yet, officially...but, you could use the Development version (see my Beta message at the top of 0.8.00). It has the filter bwbps_add_photo_link (passes the ‘Add Photo’ html for filtering), which you could hook into through your functions.php file by doing:

add_filter('bwbps_add_photo_link', 'your_function');

function your_function( $add_photo_html ){

// Do something to the Add Photo Html and return it.
// ...

return $add_photo_html;
}

That would let you tack on a new link after the add photo link. The filter basically sends the HTML as a parameter to the function you specify, and expects to get some text/html back to use for the Add Photo link. So, you can add to it or replace the default.

Let me know how it goes if you give it a try.

Cheers,
Byron

I did take a look at thread (just now) and the jquery.js file is there. In fact, the function works fine with all the other subdomains of this Wordpress MU installation. There all pulling off the same PS plugin installation and jquery.js file (I think). The only thing I can think of is that this is the only subdomain to which I imported content from a standard WP site. Could it somehow be looking for the jquery file in the old site? If so, do I need to rewrite the code in what file?

Correct me if I am wrong:
1. include upload gallery, but set gallery not to display (but use this gallery form for uploads.
2. include gallery for that specific display page, but turn off upload for this gallery.

Sure -- I love being able to say that ;-) , pretty straight forward.

For the gallery to not show the form use a shortcode like: [photosmash id=## no_form=true]

To show the form only (and you can show it on the same page or any other page/post): [photosmash form=std no_gallery=true id=##]

You can get your gallery ID (id=##) from either the Photo Manager page or the Gallery Settings page.

You can upload to the display gallery or any other gallery. In Photo Manager, you can Move images from one gallery to another or just change the Gallery in the Drop Down and save using the save button to the right of it.

Hope that helps,

Hi again,

Is it possible to create a link (outside of the gallery code) to launch a the upload form?

i want users to be able to upload images, but to the current gallery displaying. These images will then be moderated.

For example. Can I create a Gallery that all new uploads get stored then moved to new galleries once approved?

How can I create an upload function on my site that posts to this gallery.

At the moment i think it only launches upload form based on current galllery

No ad image apears in the post or pages I have created. Not in admin or any other log in. all galleries are set to anyone to upload. thought it may be the browser as I use google crome, but it was the same with firefox. I am trying to set up a web site for my nephews wedding photos, where friends and family can upload their photos for all to see. not sure how to set it all up so any help welcome. This is a great plug in, once this blip is resolved I will be a happy bunny.

Dean,

It's exciting to hear that you've got MU working with PS, and it sound like you're doing some cool things with it!

I'll tell you what I can do...I think...I will try to put a filter in on the Add Photos link, that way you could add a menu, change the link, or do all sorts of things to it.

Send me an email through Contact and I'll give you some more detail on deleting.

Hi Byron:

"On SavorySights.com, we did some custom javascript that allows user to preview the image and the delete it if they don't like it. So you can do custom coding to accomplish things like that."

This is exactly what i am looking for. Any information on how i would do this? Or do you have a file that i could have a look at?

However, the idea for this post was that i want to add a straight forward next to 'Add photo'. Like a mini menu.

Ive had a look at the script but couldnt see anything.

What i have done with you nice neat plugin is added it to Wordpress MU. Works fantastic. I have created a website where it is based on a picture profile. Similar to Deviantart.com. A user registers, get their own profile and photosmash is automatically set up. All they need to do is log in and away they can go. Superb. A neat addition would be the ability to delete images on the front end.

There are a couple of ways of deleting images from the front end.

1) As an admin, if one of your users uploads an image and it goes into moderation, you can moderate from the front-end..."bury" deletes the image.

2) On SavorySights.com, we did some custom javascript that allows user to preview the image and the delete it if they don't like it. So you can do custom coding to accomplish things like that.

But those don't sound like what you're looking for. It's not really feasible to add the link at this time...the thing that is missing is that the Gallery Wrapper in the Layout Editor doesn't get run through the full field replacement routine like the image blocks do. And then to really add what you're wanting, you'd have to have some conditional code that determines whether the user is an Admin or not (non-admins can't get to the Photo Manager page).
