There are 2 versions of Lightbox in the WordPress plugins directory, and only one of them works properly with PhotoSmash.  The one you want is Lightbox 2 by Rupert Morris.

Why do all of my Thumbnails link to the Post page instead of using the Caption Style I selected in Gallery Settings?
Simple fix:

Go to PhotoSmash Settings.
At the bottom of the first tab (General Defaults), find and uncheck the “Thumbs link to Post on Main Page” setting.
